| Mossburg Music was founded in Pomona, California, in 1992. We aimed to build a company that acted as a creative and financial partner to its artists. Opened in a one-room apartment, our label soon began to sign young bands and to release albums, mostly on cassette. Our debut release, “Godfather Ska,” by the Notables, reached audiences worldwide.
A decade later, Mossburg Music puts out an eclectic mix of releases in reggae, ska, dub, and other alternative styles of music. We’ve embraced the values of “Fair Trade” and “Not Just for Profit.” We believe that anything done for the betterment of the music industry is worth doing--even if it doesn’t earn us huge profits. We also believe that all participants in the music-making process are important and should be treated fairly.
In 2007, Mossburg Music renewed its commitment to serving artists by signing and releasing albums by five emerging ska, reggae, and dub bands and solo performers. The year 2008 is shaping up to be our most productive to date--with new full-length releases from all members of the Mossburg Music family. Stay tuned!
